Reaching Bulldogs century a dream come true for Verrier

Saturday, July 13, 2019 - 11:20 AM - by Chris Pike

THE Verrier family have been lifelong South Fremantle supporters and it's now a dream come true for Steve to reach 100 games this Saturday night with the Bulldogs and he hopes younger brother Brendan can get back to achieve the feat as well.

The Verrier brothers grew up bleeding red-and-white with their father a passionate South Fremantle man his whole life so they grew up watching the Bulldogs play, supporting them and then dreaming of playing with them.

They had their own local hero in South Fremantle games record holder Marty Atkins to look up to as well and then having come through the ranks, they enjoyed great success at colts level sharing the 2011 premiership together with Brendan remaining for the 2012 flag too.

Round 14 Preview v Perth

Friday, July 12, 2019 - 5:59 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle takes part in night football this Saturday against Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park with the Bulldogs determined to return to the WAFL winner's list in Steve Verrier's 100th match.

Night football then takes place on Saturday evening with plenty on the line when Perth hosts South Fremantle at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park.

The ground's redevelopment to become the home base for the West Coast Eagles has seen some terrific lighting installed at the venue to allow for night fixtures and it should be quite the spectacle on Saturday night with the Demons and Bulldogs battling it out.

Coach Post Match – Todd Curley NAIDOC Round

Thursday, July 11, 2019 - 2:51 PM - by Chris Pike

WHAT South Fremantle coach Todd Curley had to say following Saturday's NAIDOC Week loss at the hands of Claremont at Claremont Oval and looking ahead to this Saturday night's match up with Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park.

QUESTION: You played well in the first half but then struggled after half-time in a pretty tough game, what are your reflections on it?
ANSWER:
I thought our first half was really good. But I thought after half-time, they certainly worked harder than us and ran better than us I think. We just couldn’t get anything going forward and we didn’t get any connection going at all. We've got some work to do there.

Q: You went into half-time with plenty of momentum and had played a good first half, were you pretty happy with where things sat?
A:
I thought our first half was OK and probably the best footy that we've played for a month. We used the ball well and even though we did miss a couple of chances, I thought at half-time we were sort of happy with the way we were playing. But then after half-time, we did start pretty well and had a couple of shots but then fell away badly. Our stuff ahead of the ball really let us down I think and to their credit, they took their chances.

Bulldogs fall to Tigers in annual NAIDOC clash

Tuesday, July 9, 2019 - 3:06 PM - by Chris Pike

SOUTH Fremantle has fallen to a third successive defeat following Saturday's annual NAIDOC Round contest against Claremont at Claremont Oval.

South Fremantle does remain a game clear in third position on the WAFL ladder, but the Bulldogs have now lost three consecutive matches to Subiaco, West Coast and Claremont following an impressive seven-match winning streak.

That now sets up a crucial match up this coming Saturday evening against the fourth placed Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park as the Bulldogs attempt to return to the winner's list.

The Inside Word | Dylan Main Player Column NAIDOC Round

Friday, July 5, 2019 - 6:38 PM - by Dylan Main

AS we just tick over the mid-way point of the season, it has been a very promising one thus far. I’m not sure how many people would have predicted us to have already notched up eight wins and to be sitting equal second on the ladder after 11 games.

It shows the great youth we have coming up through the development ranks and how well we have gelled after a large overhaul.

The last two weeks/losses have been disappointing to say the least though. Subiaco were just stronger and harder on the day and proved why they have been the benchmark of the competition for the last decade, whilst we felt like we dominated all the stats against the Eagles, we just failed to execute and get the reward for effort.

South Fremantle Football Club Indigenous Jumper

Tuesday, July 2, 2019 - 9:15 AM

OUR 2019 NAIDOC jumper was designed by Ashley and Kelly Collard. Ashley is a lifelong South Fremantle supporter who grew up in the club’s backyard of White Gum Valley.

Ashley has fond memories of growing up following the greats during the 70’s and 80’s era. He did admit to Maurice Rioli being his favourite player, amongst a host of famous indigenous players during that period.
