Thursday, 14 August 2008
More than 200 children took part in South Fremantle’s holiday clinic on Monday July 7.Despite the cold morning, the children gathered at Fremantle Oval, eager to hone their football skills on the first day of the school holidays. The group was divided into age groups and moved through a series of activities and drills over the next three and a half hours. The junior district players, many dressed in AFL jumpers, were coached by rising stars from South Fremantle’s Warriors Development program. The Star Wars and Massive Dry Slide bouncy castles also proved popular with the kids. There was a break for fruit and juice while the members bar was open during the day.South Fremantle development officer Louise McKenry said a lot of planning and organization was required to run the clinics, which are conducted twice a year.“It was cold here at 6.30 this morning,” she said.“But this is where give the parents a break and provide a  fun-filled footy day during the school holidays.“Once you put everything in place the clinics tend to run themselves.”Each child who attended the clinic also received a Bulldogs backpack containing a poster, clapper, Frisbee, stress ball and a copy of the Football Budget.
